22 year old Kansas City a man accused of illegally buying a gun found after a mass shooting in February Kansas City Chiefs The Super Bowl rally was sentenced to probation.
U.S. District Court Judge Howard Sachs sentenced Ronel Williams Jr. to five years of probation Thursday, the Kansas City Star reported.
Williams’ public defenders did not immediately respond Associated Press calls and emails requesting comment on Friday.
Williams pleaded guilty in July to conspiracy to make false statements in the procurement of firearms.
Williams said he lied to buy a gun for a 19-year-old who was too young to buy a gun legally. The man Williams bought the gun for is facing the same charges and is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 12. The man told police his gun was stolen.
Williams’ attorney said Williams had nothing to do with the parade shooters. The gun was found by the police after the shooting.
In the shooting in February, one person was killed and around twenty were wounded. Three people have been charged with murder.
