Turkey’s Alalshih reports that Israil Madrimov has been withdrawn from his fight against Serhiy Bohachuk due to acute bronchitis for the Dec. 21 season ticket in Riyadh.
Former WBC interim junior middleweight champion Bohachuk (24-2, 23 KOs) will remain on the roster, facing replacement opponent Ishmael Davis (13-1, 6 KOs) in a co-main event. The two fight in the rematch of Tyson Fury vs. Alexander Usyk 2 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh.
Madrimov (10-1-1, 7 KOs) is still scheduled to face interim WBC 154 lb champion Vergil Ortiz Jr. on the card on February 22. Skipping what would be a grueling fight against Bohachuk will make Madrim’s fight against Virgil easier. It would be difficult for Madrimov to get through the Bohachuk match with a win and injury-free to return 63 days later to face Ortiz Jr.
Former WBA 154 lb champion Madrimov is coming off a close 12 round unanimous decision loss to Terence Crawford on August 3rd in Los Angeles.
