The explosion shook the neighborhood Dutch of the capital early Saturday morning, destroying several apartments and injuring several people, authorities said.
The cause of the disaster in The Hague is not clear. Emergency services said four people were rescued from the rubble and taken to hospital, but could not say how many people were still under the rubble.
A line of ambulances could be seen waiting nearby in anticipation of more victims. A local hospital spokesman said they were on standby to deal with the injuries.
