‘Monte’s March’ again helps fill empty pantries (The Republican Editorials)

Despite the heavy rains on its second day, last week March for the Food Bank raised an astonishing sum – once again with a familiar piper leading the way dressed as Glinda the Good Witch.

Christopher “Monte” Belmonte didn’t need a magic wand to inspire this Pioneer Valley campaign, now in its 15th year, to raise more than $572,000. That’s enough to cover a month’s worth of meals that the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts distributes to 120,000 people in one month.
