Could Bill Belichick’s next job be in college?
This would have seemed unthinkable a year ago, but according to Inside Carolinathe 72-year-old coach interviewed for the vacant North Carolina job, widely considered the top job open.
According to MassLive’s Karen Guregian’s sources, the interest from Belichick and UNC may only be cosmetic at this point. Both parties will benefit from the exposure.
Belichick has never coached in college, and UNC was hoping to get a younger coach to lead them into a new era after firing 73-year-old Mack Brown.
Since being fired by the Patriots, Belichick has worked in various media roles to improve his marketability.
Belichick needs 15 wins to surpass Don Shula’s record for most combined wins by an NFL head coach, regular season and playoff.
