Manchester Airport has rejected claims that a UFO has been spotted in its airspace and hovering on its runways after theories spread on social media.
Apparent images of a spherical shape on Manchester Airport They started appearing on social media back in June, but recently resurfaced, sending users into a frenzy over what the item could be.
Some users on X called it a “strange UAP/UFO” with apparent videos and pictures showing the object touching down on an airport runway and also hovering high in the air.
One user claimed that “security personnel approached, after which the object suddenly took off, displaying flight characteristics unlike any conventional aircraft.”
Other users described what they said was a “sphere”, a “metal sphere” or wondered if it was a drone.
British “ufologist”, Mark Christopher Lee, spoke to media such as Daily Expressclaiming that the mysterious orb drew parallels with other incidents such as the Australian government’s apparent seizure of extraterrestrial spheres in 1957.
However, Manchester Airport has spoken out about the UFO theories and denied the claims.
They said from the airport The Independent that they believed the images to be fake, and although the object could be a balloon or something, they saw nothing to prove that the images were real unaltered footage.
The spokesperson further added Express: “We have systems that capture anything that could be a threat to aviation.
“Anything that gives a signal we would know about.”
He added that if there had been anything at the airport at the airport, as shown in the video, it would have been treated as a major incident, and no such disruption had occurred.
Manchester Airport theories are coming weeks after the Pentagon released a report revealing hundreds of incidents they have encountered unidentified and unexplained aerial phenomena – however, there are no indications of any extraterrestrial origin.
The Pentagon’s review included 757 cases from around the world reported to US authorities between May 1, 2023 and June 1, 2024.
They found explanations for nearly 300 incidents, including unknown objects that turn out to be balloons, birds, planes, drones or satellites.
The report also notes that Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite system has become an increasingly common source of people mistaking satellite chains for UFOs.
However, there are hundreds of other cases that remain unexplained, although the report stresses that this is often because there is not enough information available to draw firm conclusions.
