The National Weather Service issued a weather warning at 9:53 a.m. Thursday for snow and showers until noon for north Worcester and south Worcester, as well as Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden counties.
“A strong cold front moving across central New York as of 9:45 a.m. was producing an area of brief snow flurries. These heavy snow showers and blizzards are expected to move into the western and central massachusetts and northern connecticut between noon and 3 pm today, visibilities in these brief heavy snow flurries could be reduced to a quarter of miles in the heaviest activity, with accumulations of up to 1″ in as little as one hour. These conditions could hamper travel in western and central Massachusetts and northern Connecticut. Snow conditions may be necessary , including the possibility of brief blizzard warnings, which are used to make drivers aware of brief whiteout conditions associated with heavy snowstorms in parts of southern New England,” according to the service meteorological
