His Excellency Turki Alalshikh says he has a “dream” to rematch Wladimir Klitschko and Tyson Fury from 2015. However, the rematch would only happen if Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) defeats unified champion Alexander Usyk on December 21 .
Turki wants Wladimir, 48, to have a chance to break George Foreman’s record from November 5, 1994, when he knocked out Michael Moorer in the tenth round to become champion at the age of 45. Vladimir turns 49 on March 25. It would be great if Klitschko gets a chance to avenge his loss because Fury never gave him a rematch.
The Fall of the Gypsy King?
He should have given Vlad a rematch, but his mental health exposed after his victory. He celebrated too much and stayed out of the ring until 2018. Unsurprisingly, Wladimir gave up and retired. The rematch does not seem realistic. Fury will NOT beat Usyk this month. If not, the referee on duty on December 21 will save Tyson this time with a meaningless eight count; Usyk will probably knock him out.
The odds of Fury beating Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) in a rematch this month aren’t good. While many boxing fans believe Fury can win, wiser minds see it as a contradiction. The gypsy king is very old, he is 36 years old, he looks even older than Vladimir. Fury looks closer, around 50, and that’s being kind.
The eating that Fury did, and apparently a lot of it, is just plain genetics. Some people age faster than others. His father, John Fury, looks considerably older than his 59 years, and Tyson is his mirror image. He looks just like dad, and that means he’s not praying against Usyk in their December 21 rematch at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh.

Fury was 27 years old when he fought the 39-year-old Wladimir, but the striking statistics show that he was barely better than him. If you saw the fight, like I did, there wasn’t much action from either guy. Fury did a lot of jabbing and leaning against the ropes.
It wasn’t much different from the way he fought Alexander Usyk, but in that fight he was under pressure from the Ukrainians. Vladimir just looked scared to throw. You have to remember he was old, he lost his coach Emmanuel Steward, who passed away in 2012.
Steward was always able to motivate Klitschko to throw punches, but when he passed away, that motivational force was gone. He didn’t follow the instructions of his trainer, Jonathan Banks, in the corner and seemed rudderless.
