THE PROPOSED card in Riyadh on February 22 continues to be the subject of online speculation, but one fight is a done deal according to the promoter.
It’s no secret that Turki Alalshikh planned to put Matchroom’s WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson, 22-0 (10 KOs), on the opening card of the 2025 season in Riyadh. he withdrew due to injury leaving Stevenson without a fight.
That doesn’t appear to be the case now, however, thanks to Floyd Schofield, 18-0 (12 KOs). The promoter of the 22-year-old Oscar De La Hoya wrote on the social media platform X that his fighter accepted the fight.

In his post, De La Hoya also described Schofield as “the greatest prospect fighting today.” Stevenson, without a word or two to X, responded by saying, “Finally you’re making sense.” First he, then I take down Zepeda. I apologize in advance, boy, you are a legend in the boxing ring to me!”
Alalshikh has yet to make the February 22 card official, but Daniel Dubois is rumored to defend his IBF heavyweight title against Joseph Parker. A rematch between undisputed light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol could also be on the same card. And another intriguing heavyweight fight – between Zhilei Zhang and Agit Kabaiel – is another possible addition.
Jaron Ennis vs. Vergil Ortiz was also attached to the show, but a high quality matchup is banned for now. Ortiz, however, could still find himself on the list of front-runners for Card of the Year.
