Box Score: Joseph Brown and Jursley Vargas shine in Tale of Garcia 4


Mayweather Promotions rookie duo Joseph Brown and Jursley Vargas made the trip to the East Coast as both remained undefeated with impressive wins at the Tale of Garcia 4 event that took place on Saturday night, November 30th at ACX1 Studios in Atlantic City, Nev. Jerseys.

Dani Garcia’s Swift Promotions is a new boxing company that provides a platform to help young boxers get to know each other. On Saturday night, live on DMDb.com, Joseph “The Prodigy” Brown showed off his boxing skills while Jursley “The Gorilla” Vargas showed off his punching power.

On the Tale Of Garcia 4 undercard, 18-year-old Joseph Brown began his match against Carl Ritchie by moving quickly around the ring while working a jab. In the second round, Brown fired a jab and followed up with a three-kick combination to the body.

Late in the second round, Brown connected with a solid right hand, then finished the round by hitting Richie with a flurry of punches. At the start of the third round, Brown stepped into the pocket and landed a five-punch combination to the head and body of his opponent.

For the rest of the third and throughout the fourth, Brown controlled the distance, used his jab and landed sharp combinations. At the end of the 4-round contest, Joseph Brown won all three judges’ lists by a score of 40-36. With the win, Brown improves his record to (4-0, 3 KOs).

Brown’s stablemate Jursley Vargas competed in the co-main as he faced Claudio Hernandez. In the first round, Vargas landed a good left hook and followed it up with a flurry of powerful jabs. Hernandez responded by connecting with a two-three combination.

For the rest of the first round, Hernandez looked to be on top as he aggressively pressed forward, but Vargas showed he was capable of fighting off the back foot. During the second round, the fight was very competitive as both boxers managed to land some significant punches.

The uppercut was a very effective weapon for Vargas in the first few rounds. Late in the third round, Vargas connected with an uppercut that stunned Hernandez, as Vargas followed up with a series of powerful punches that forced Hernandez to his knees.

Hernandez managed to get to his feet as the bell rang to officially end the third round. In the fourth round, Vargas connected with a big right hand that knocked Hernandez off balance. Vargas continued to hit Hernandez with powerful punches, forcing the referee to step in and stop the contest.

With the victory, 20-year-old Jursli Vargas improved his record to (4-0, 3 KOs). The Mayweather Promotions duo of Jursley Vargas and Joseph Brown ended 2024 with a winning streak. Both Vargas and Brown are eager to get back into the gym, work on their craft and prepare to be very active in 2025.
